visitors often gasp upon first seeing the brilliant-colored,
monumental-sized, highly detailed watercolors by
the petite and quiet Judy Treman. "I
once overheard a man at a juried show stand in front
of my painting and say, "Way too much color."
I wanted to shake his hand and say, "Thank
you! That is just what I was trying to do."
I want my paintings to grab you by the collar and
shout, what a beautiful world we live in! Let's
celebrate it! Seize the day"
Self-taught
watercolorist Judy invented and mastered her colorful,
detailed watercolor style and then shared it with
other artists in her technical book and workshops.
"As
sun shining through stained glass windows imparts
vibrant colors, so does white paper give a 'power
boost' to jewel-like, transparent colors.
It is not the thickness of color, but the vibrancy
I strive to achieve. About
details, a teacher once told me "You don't
have to paint every hair on the horse." I said
to myself, "but you can if you want to"
and I figured out how. Details are a way of celebrating
the small wonders of the world

Judy's
passion for color is as big as it gets!
To
me COLOR EQUALS JOY! More color the better, I pour
all the joy I can into each painting, then I send
that joy out to sing to the world. I keep pushing
limits to create larger and more colorful watercolors"
On "Seeing
Red"
"Red
is such a powerful color. It demands attention!
It's the most joyous color! My paintings explore
the many reds--from brash, hot reds to soft, cool
rosy reds. From oriental reds to southwest, Indian
corn to fruit and flowers, "Seeing Red"
is a celebration, a fiesta. And more, they are also
JOY for the soul, my gift to you. EnJOY!"
Judy's
passion for beauty finds loads of inspiration living
in her hometown of Walla Walla, Washington.
"My hunger for beauty
is all pervasive, and I believe we need it now more
than ever. Philosopher Blaise Pascal said it best,
"You should always keep something beautiful
in your heart. Perhaps, as the poet said, it is
beauty that will save us in the end.'"
